Box score

STEVENSON, Md. - Since suffering a 3-0 loss to Stevenson earlier this season, the Cabrini had won 15 of its last 20 entering Saturday's contest in which the Cavaliers capitalized on 42 Mustang errors en route to a 3-0 victory in the semifinals of the ECAC South Women's Volleyball Championship.

Stevenson (32-8) committed 24 attack errors, seven service errors and eight ball handling errors in suffering a 25-20, 25-23, 25-22 loss, ending the best season in the history of the women's volleyball program. The team's 32 wins shattered the old mark of 21 set by the 2007 and 2005 Mustangs.

Under second-year head coach Eric Schaefer, Cabrini (22-13) has also set a school record for wins in a season. The team was led by eight kills from Kaitlyn Fetterman and 26 assists and eight digs by Lizzie Williams.

Defensively, Stevenson totaled 68 digs, 14 more than the Cavaliers, but also had 24 errors on 123 attempts for a .106 hitting percentage.

The Mustangs had seven errors each in the first and second set and 10 in the decisive third set. With the first set tied at 19-19, Cabrini scored six of the final seven points, three of which were given to them by Stevenson attack errors.

In the second set, the Cavaliers built a 17-12 lead on a Mustang ball handling error before Stevenson battled back to tie the game at 20-20. However, Cabrini scored three of the final four points on kills by Stephanie Recklau and Traci Beltz and an attack error by the Mustangs after they tied the game at 22-22.

The third set was back and forth with neither team able to build a lead larger than three points before the Cavaliers were able to notch the three-point victory and the game following Stevenson's seventh service error of the contest on game point.

Sophomore Alex Mercer (Eldersburg/Liberty) had a strong performance for the Mustangs in defeat as she totaled a game-high 13 kills and five total blocks while posting a .383 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Dani Katsampis (New Windsor/Francis Scott Key) also had a strong offensive performance, totaling 11 kills while hitting .267 on 30 attempts.

In her final collegiate game, senior Julie Olson (Spofford, N.H./Keene) totaled a game-high 19 digs while junior Brittany Umetin (Havre de Grace/Mt. Zion) had 16 along with 31 assists.
