OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson University field
hockey sophomore Kara Zimmerman (Odenton/Arundel)
made nine saves while the Mustangs held No. 7 Lebanon Valley
scoreless for the first 25-plus minutes before falling 4-0 Saturday
at the Caves Complex.
The game was third this season for Stevenson (6-7) this season
against a team ranked in the top 20 of the STX/NFHCA Division III
National Coaches Poll.
The Dutchmen (10-1) opened the scoring with less than 10 minutes
remaining in the first half when Alex Wolfe scored unassisted,
picking up her 100th career point in the process. She finished the
game with five points on two goals and one assist and now has 104.
Less than six minutes later, Wolfe assisted on Jocelyn Novak's
team-leading 13th goal of the year to give Lebanon Valley a 2-0
lead which it would take into halftime.
Wolfe scored her second goal less than 10 minutes into the
second half, also unassisted, before Avery Carter scored on a
penalty corner, assisted by Shelly Lobach in the 56th minute to cap
the scoring.
The Dutchmen held a 25-3 advantage in shots and drew a
season-high 20 penalty corners. Caitlin Baro stopped two shots in
picking up her 10th victory and fifth shutout of the season.
Zimmerman made five saves in the first and four in the second
before giving way to freshman Megan Sadowski
(Fallston/Fallston) who made her second appearance of the
year. Sophomore Victoria Wolfe (Baltimore/Perry
Hall) played the final 4:46 and totaled one save.
Stevenson travels to Wesley on Tuesday for a CAC contest
beginning at 7:00 p.m.
