OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Lauren Correll scored all three goals, two of which came in a decisive first half as No. 10-ranked Salisbury posted a 3-1 victory over the Stevenson University field hockey team Tuesday afternoon at the Caves Complex.

Despite the loss, Stevenson (7-9, 2-4 CAC) received good news following the game when it found out that it will be the fourth-seed in the 2008 CAC Field Hockey Championship after a coin flip was used to break a three-way tie with Wesley and York (Pa.) in the conference standings.

The Mustangs will host Wesley, the fifth-seed, on Sunday, November 2 in the quarterfinals. York (Pa.) will be the sixth-seed. Salisbury is currently the No. 1-seed, followed by St. Mary's (Md.) and Mary Washington. The Sea Gulls host Mary Washington this Saturday to determine the top three seeds.

The Sea Gulls (11-3, 5-0 CAC) held a 21-1 advantage in shots in the first half along with a commanding 10-0 margin in penalty corners en route to building a 2-0 halftime lead.

Correll scored both goals off rebounds in front of the goal, the first of which was assisted by Tara McGovern just 6:29 into the game. Her second followed less than two minutes later.

Stevenson (7-9, 2-4 CAC) sophomore Kara Zimmerman (Odenton/Arundel) totaled 11 of her season-high 13 saves in the first half while sophomore Natalie DiPaolo (Baltimore/Perry Hall) had two defensive saves and freshman Ashley Beam (Reisterstown/North Carroll) added one.

Correll added her team-leading 16th goal of the year in the second half with just over 20 minutes remaining before Mustang sophomore Katelyn Manocheh (Timonium/Maryvale Prep) picked up her fourth goal of the season to put Stevenson on the board with under 10 minutes left.

Manocheh's goal came off a penalty corner, assisted by senior Emily Pullarn (Perry Hall/Perry Hall).

Stevenson will host Richard Stockton on Saturday in the team's final regular season home game. Prior to the game, the Mustangs will honor its three seniors, Pullarn, Krissy Leventis (Baltimore/Lutheran) and Cat Connelly (Fallston/Fallston).
