Stevenson, MD- The Mustangs returned to the court to down
their local-rival, College of Notre Dame Gators, 57-48. The
Mustangs started out the game behind the Gators but grabbed the
lead at the 15-minute mark and never turned it back over.
The Mustang defense held the Gators to only 3 points until 10
minutes left in the half. A Gator turnover led to
Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill, MD/Fallston) hitting
a two-pointer to put the Mustangs up 6-3. The Mustangs went
up by as many as 11 points multiple times in the first half.
Villa was up 29-23 at the half.
In the second half, both teams returned to the court with
intensity. However, the Mustangs maintained control of the
court and held the Gators to only within three-points of the lead
and only score eight points in the last eight minutes of the
game.
Steiner led the team with double-double numbers
of 10 boards and 13 points, going 3-3 from the paint and 7-8 from
the line. Tanisha Foster (Baltimore, MD/ St. Frances
Academy) had team high in rebounding with 11.
Tara Galvin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) also
broke into double digits with 10 points.
The Mustangs return to their home court on Saturday against
CAC-foe Marymount at 2 pm.
