Stevenson, MD.- The Mustangs hosted Kings
College in the first round of the ECAC Tournament in tonight's
game.
The Mustangs were the first to score off of a quick layup by
Cara Hill (Ft. Washington, MD/ Oxon Hill) at
18:54. Kings came back with a vengence and dominated the
glass for the remainder of the half. Megan
Lanasa (Baltimore, MD/ Seton Keough) put a hault to
their momentum when she stole the ball from Jenna Palumbo and
Tanisha Foster (Baltimore, MD/ St. Frances
Academy) scored the layup with an assist by Tonia
Cristino (Lancaster, PA/ Hempfield) at 14:04. Kings
went on to take a 14 point lead at the end of the half, 29-15, over
the Mustangs.
The second half was similiar to the first. Kings extened
their lead to 21, 36-15, within three-minutes of play. The
Mustangs battled hard but only came within 10 points of the
lead at 7:40, when Hill hit a pair of
free-throws to make the score 49-39. The Mustangs ended the
game 14 points behind Kings, 64-50.
Top scorer of the game was Kings' Andrea Hochstuhl with 22
points. Foster led the Mustangs with a
double-double of 16 points and 11 boards.
Hill added 10 points and 14 rebounds, and
Ashley Burrell (Baltimore, MD/ Institute of Notre
Dame) had 11 rebounds and six points. Dominique
Patton (Bladensburg, MD /Bladensburg) added nine
points.
The Mustangs ended their season with an overall record of
19-10 and 14-4 in the NEAC.
