OWINGS MILLS, MD - The Villa Julie field hockey team extended
their winning streak to three games with a comprehensive 6-0
victory over conference foe Hood College. The Mustangs started fast
and dominated from the start, out-shooting the Blazers 21-0 in the
first half.
The breakthrough was scored after only three minutes by freshman
Jennifer Sauers (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall). The
goals then began to go in on a regular basis with junior
Krissy Leventis (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Lutheran)
adding to the scoresheet four minutes after the first. Krissy has
now totaled six goals for the season. Further goals were added in
the first half by junior Rachel Manly (Bel Air,
MD/Bel Air) and Margaret Wolfe (Parkville,
MD/Perry Hall) scored her first goal of the season (pictured on the
right).
The Mustangs continued to dominate after the restart and
finished the game with a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks, and
recorded 35 more shots than the Blazers. Captain Cat
Connolly (Fallston, MD/Fallston) added to the scoresheet
by scoring from a penalty stroke before freshman Cara
Albanese (North East, MD/Perryville) sealed the win with
an assist from Sarah Bauer.
The Mustangs will be looking to continue their winning streak
when they travel to face highly ranked Lebanon Valley College on
Saturday 6th October.
