Mustangs Extend Winning Streak to 7 Matches

Stevenson, MD-

The Mustangs overtook Philadelphia Biblical University 3-1 in tonight's last regular season home match as they honored the lone senior on the team. The win improves their record to 21-10.

Before the match, Coach Trumbo presented the only senior on the Women's Volleyball team, Christy Callahan (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll). He described her as a young lady that loves volleyball and enjoys working to improve her skills. She is a leader by example with a work ethic surpassed by no one. Callahan has been an instrumental part of the team, contributing 118 kills, 37 assists, 70 digs, a combined 36 blocks, and seven aces in this season alone.

The Mustangs took the first game 30-24. The Crimson Eagles returned to win the second game 30-15. Villa Julie, determined to win their senior night, won the last two games 30-21 and 30-22. Alex Mercer (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) led the Mustangs offensively with 18 kills, followed by Danielle Katsampis (New Windsor, MD/Francis Scott Key) with 13. Julie Olson (Spofford, NH/Keene) held the defense with 20 digs. Callahan contributed 12 kills, 16 digs, and two aces.

The Mustangs play their next game on October 30 in the first round of the CAC Tournament. The match has yet to be determined. The tournament bracket will be announced on Friday, October 26.
