Towson, MD- The Mustangs traveled to local-rival Goucher
College for their last regular season game. The Mustangs went
in and took over the field, winning 2-1 against the Gophers.
The Gophers found the cage first to give them a 1-0 lead over
the Mustangs 10 minutes into the game. Villa's
Jennifer Sauers (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) hit the
cage at the 8 minute mark to make the game all square at the
half. Sauers came out of halftime and got
another shot past Goucher's Aline Haddad to put the Mustangs up
2-1.
The game was led by the Mustang midfielders. Emily
Pullarn (Perry Hall, MD/Perry Hall) and Cat
Connelly (Fallston, MD/Fallston) led the midfield enabling
the ball to transition smoothly from defense to offense.
Forward, Aja Payne (Baltimore, MD/Kenwood) came
off the bench and made some great plays to help keep the ball on
the Gopher side of the field.
Goalie, Kara Zimmerman (Odenton, MD/Arundel)
dominated in the cage along with Christie Greer (Bel Air,
MD/Bel Air) kept the defense strong against the Gopher
offense to only allow them to get away with one goal.
This win boosts Mustang morale going into post season play along
with their overall record climbing to 5-12 and 2-4 in the
CAC. The #4 Mustangs will host CAC-rival #5 Mary Washington
on Sunday for the CAC Quarterfinals at 1 pm.
