WASHINGTON - The Villa Julie Field Hockey team lost to
non-conference opponent Catholic University by a lone goal. The
game was scoreless for 50 minutes until Cardinals
player Michele Repass hit the game winning goal.
The game started brightly for the Mustangs with five
shots being registered on the Cardinals goal early. Catholic
came back into the match after the Mustangs had failed to
capitalize on their early chances but the score would remain
0-0 at the interval.
In the second half, both teams battled with Catholic having the
advantage in shots. They finally got
the breakthrough after 50 minutes and after the Mustangs
had a spell of sustained pressure they held out for the
win. Special praise goes to VJC Goalie Kara Zimmerman
(Odenton, MD/Arundel) who was in great form, earning
13 saves in the loss.
The Mustangs return to action on Tuesday 16th October when they
travel to face conference opponent Salisbury University. This will
be the Mustangs last regular season conference game as they aim to
improve on their 2-3 CAC record.
