Towson, MD.- In the second round of play in the
Provident Pride of Maryland Tournament, Villa Julie faced the
Blazers of Hood College and fell, 83-72. Villa Julie will now face
the defeated team between Frostburg and St. Mary's on Sunday,
November 26, at noon.
The first half began with Hood going up by 8 within six minutes
of play, only to have the Mustangs take the lead at 12:11. As the
lead was exchanged, the Mustangs went up by as much as 4 at 8:10,
but couldn't hold on as the Blazers pulled ahead. Hood entered
halftime with a lead at 41-38.
During the second half, the Blazers went up by 13 before
defeating the Mustangs 83-72. Villa Julie was led by Steve
Segears (Lanham, MD/St. Johns College) and Kerry
Dugan (Sparks, MD/Hereford) who each tallied
double-doubles; Segears with 17 points, 10 boards
and Dugan with 13 points, 11 boards. Freshman
guard Greg Woody (Baltimore, MD/Mt. St. Joe)
earned 12 points in the effort.
The loss brings the Mustangs to 1-2 overall.
