Gates Shatters Personal Best in 5k, Takes 8th Place at ETown Short Course Invite

LEBANON, Pa. - Junior Emily Gates clocked a personal best in the 5k with a time of 18:16.15, which gave her eighth place overall at the Elizabethtown Short Course Invite, held at the Union Canal Tunnel Park. Gates' time in the race shattered her previous personal best for the 5k distance by over one minute and 10 seconds. The Mustangs placed fifth out of 10 schools with a team score of 104. 

Freshman Peyton Arbour set a personal record in the 5k with a time of 18:33.82, giving her 12th overall out of 121 runners.

Senior Kelly Winklbauer also set a personal best with a time of 18:45.91, giving her 18th place in the standings. 

Sophomore Mikhayla Sabo set a PR with a 19:26.45, giving her 33rd overall.

Seniors Achol Odolla and Cassandra Morris finished back-to-back with times of 19:27.32 and 19:28.68, respectively. Both times were personal bests.

Freshman Mary Gorman crossed the line in 19:40.89 for the Mustangs, which was also a personal record.

Dickinson finished at the top of the team standings with a team score of 44.

The Mustangs hit the course next on Saturday, October 5 at the Don Cathcart Invitational, hosted by Salisbury. The race is set to begin at 9:45 a.m.
