Gates Leads Mustangs With Personal Best at Mount 5k Duals

EMMITTSBURG, Md. - Junior Emily Gates clocked a personal-best 5k (cross country) time of 19:26.85 at the season-opening Mount St. Mary's 5k Duals. Gates finished the race 34th overall out of 112 Division I and III athletes. The Mustangs finished eighth in the team standings with a score of 212.

Freshman Peyton Arbour opened up her collegiate career with a 20:03.58 to take 49th overall, while senior Kelly Winklbauer kicked off her final season with a 20:41.74. 

Senior Cassandra Morris clocked a 20:58.49 for the Mustangs, while Achol Odolla turned in a 21:34.10. Freshman Mary Gorman finished just behind Odolla with a 21:34.46.

Freshman Abby Lizewski turned in a 21:35.31 in her first collegiate race. Sophomore Mikhayla Sabo crossed the line in 21:57.21 for the Mustangs.

Kathryn Gearhart of Maryland clocked an 18:02.04 to take the individual title, while Hopkins took the team title by one point over Georgetown with a score of 38.

The Mustangs race next on Saturday, September 7, when they host the Shannon Henretty Invitational. The race is set to kick off at 12:30 p.m. on the Greenspring Campus Course.
