Mustangs Bounce Back, Sweep Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After dropping its last two matches, the Stevenson women's volleyball team posted a 3-0 win against Lycoming College Saturday afternoon at Lamade Gymnasium in a MAC Commonwealth contest. Set scores were 25-16, 26-24, 25-18.

  • Lycoming (15-12, 4-3 MAC Commonwealth) opened the match with the first four points leading them over Stevenson (24-2. 6-0 MAC Commonwealth).
  • Leading 16-15, Stevenson reeled off six straight points capped by a Katie Leftridge kill to go up 22-15.
  • The Mustangs closed the set with three straight points, posting a 25-16 win in the first set.
  • A service ace by Mackenzie Blevins closed the set.

  • The Mustangs and the Warriors traded the first four points of the set until back-to-back kills put the hosts up 4-2.
  • Lycoming took a 9-3 lead with five straight points capped by a kill from Emily Morris.
  • The Warriors held a 24-21 lead and were serving for the set when the Mustangs recorded the final five points to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Back-to-back kills by Leftridge and Simone Gest pulled the Mustangs within 24-23.
  • Two attack errors by Lycoming, followed by a kill by Gest, wrapped things up.

  • A kill by Senior Caroline Dangel kicked off a 3-0 Mustang run that put them up 6-4.
  • The Mustangs gradually pulled away, moving out to a 17-9 lead on a Leftridge kill followed by a Warrior attack error.
  • Lycoming moved within five, 23-18,  but the Mustangs scored the final two points of the set to close things out.
  • A kill by Leftridge finished the match.

  • The Mustangs moved to 64-0 all-time in MAC Commonwealth regular season play.
  • Stevenson hit .326, while Lycoming hit .032.
  • The Mustangs led in kills 39-30
  • Leftridge led the Mustangs with 12 kills on .435 hitting and also had five digs and three blocks.
  • Gest finished with nine kills, hitting .421.
  • Victoria Prokic led Stevenson with five blocks and added five kills.
  • Kayla Vaeth had 10 digs and three service aces.
  • Haley Hoover added three blocks.
  • Dangel handed her teammates 16 assists, while Julie Nightwine had 14.

  • The Mustangs return home Tuesday, October 29 for a MAC Commonwealth match against Alvernia at Owings Mills Gymnasium at 7 pm.
