ANNVILLE, Pa. - Stevenson women's volleyball senior Samantha Perillo was named the 2014 Middle Atlantic Conference Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Monday. She is the first player from Stevenson to receive the prestigous honor during the University's three years in the league.
Perillo, who graduated cum laude on December 15 with a degree in business communications and a 3.52 grade point average, was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the Commonwealth Conference Volleyball Championship. She was also named ECAC South Defensive Player of the Year.
A three-time AVCA All-American, Perillo was also a three-time All-Commonwealth Conference First Team selection. She led the conference with 782 digs and ranked 12th in Division III with 6.11 digs per set. She also helped the Mustangs to three-straight Commonwealth Conference championships and four consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.
Perillo holds the school record for digs with 2,600 and was a two-time Academic All-MAC selections and three-time Fall MAC Academic Honor Roll recipient. This year, she was named to the CoSIDA/Capital One All-District 2 First Team.
