Hammond Wins Long Jump at AARTFC Championship, Sets School Record

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Junior Kimberly Hammond won the long jump with a school-record leap of 5.90m, giving her first overall in the event at the AARTFC Outdoor Championships, hosted by SUNY Cortland. Hammond's performance places her into a tie for second in all of Division III, putting her in position to make her second-straight NCAA appearance in the long jump (2019 NCAA Indoor Championships).

Junior Danika Ani reached the podium in the shot put, placing fourth overall with a top throw of 12.40 meters. Ani placed sixth in the hammer on Thursday with a school-record throw of 48.54 meters. 

Ithaca won the team title with 107 points. The Mustangs finished 13th out of 32 scoring teams with 18 points.

The final list of participants for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships will be released at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 at www.ncaa.org. The NCAA Championships will be taking place in Geneva, Ohio starting on Thursday, May 23 through Saturday, May 25.
