Ani Wins Shot Put, Weight Throw, Mustangs Take Third at Wilkins Center Invite

WINCHESTER, Pa. - Senior Danika Ani took first place in both the shot put and weight throw at the Wilkins Center Invitational, hosted by Shenandoah University. Ani's toss of 13.58 meters in the shot put is currently second in the Mideast region and tied for third in Division III. Ani, who threw a 15.41 in the weight throw, already has the top throw (16.75m) in the region and fifth best in the nation.

The Mustangs finished third out of nine teams with 90 points. 

Stevenson's other event victory came from freshman London Powell who jumped 10.20m in the triple jump. Freshman Nicole Osei placed third in the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 10.01m. Osei also took fourth in the long jump with a leap of 4.51m.

Junior Rachel Panek picked up second place in the 400 with a time of 1:04.82, while senior Jaleah Sydnor took fifth with a 1:06.41. Sydnor also placed third in the 200m dash with a 29.77. 

In the 60m dash finals, sophomore Ashlynne Raby and junior Ryley Hinson clocked times of 8.33 and 8.43 to take fifth and seventh overall. Hinson also took seventh in the 200 with a time of 28.37. 

Freshman Maryam Al Naseri picked up fifth overall in the 800 with a 2:49.55, while freshmen Mary Gorman and Peyton Arbour finished fifth and seventh in the 3000 with times of 11:39.16 and 11:55.67. 

Freshman Kiana Mack clocked a personal best in the 60m hurdle finals with a time of 10.35, earning seventh overall. 

Raby, Sydnor, Mack and Hinson closed out the meet with a fifth place finish in the 4x400m relay with a combined time of 4:30.12. 

Stevenson's season continues at the Gotham Cup, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in New York City, N.Y., on Friday, January 17.
