Hammond Wins Long Jump on Final Day of All-Atlantic Region Championships

ITHACA, N.Y. - Junior Kimberly Hammond took first place in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 5.68 meters, which was just .01 meters off of the school record (Cierra Roberts - 5.69m), at the All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Ithaca College. Hammond's performance is currently 13th best in all of Division III, putting her in prime position to qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. 

In the weight throw, senior Allison Bishop earned a spot on the podium with a toss of 15.22 meters, giving her fifth overall. Junior Danika Ani placed eighth in the event with a 14.94m throw. 

Senior Kelly Winklbauer clocked a 5:14.02 in the mile to place eighth overall.  

Freshman Ashlynne Raby set a personal best in the 200, clocking a 26.66 to take 13th overall.

The Mustangs finished eighth in the team standings with 27 points. The College of New Jersey took the team title with 87 points. 

If Hammond's long jump performance remains as one of the top-17 Division III results at the conclusion of Saturday's meets, she will qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, which take place starting on Friday, March 8 through Saturday, March 9 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Ma.
