Ani Places 14th in Shot Put at NCAA Championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Stevenson women's track and field freshman Danika Ani earned 14th place overall in the shot put with a throw of 13.12 meters at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by North Central College. 

During her first collegiate indoor season, Ani set school records in both the shot put (13.82 meters) and weight throw (13.68 meters). Ani also became the first athlete in women's program history to win Rookie of the Year honors at the Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships. 

Monique Newton of Oberlin won the event with a top toss of 15.56 meters. 

Washington University (St. Louis) won the team championship with 44 points.
