Milam Earns Two Bronze on Day One of Diamond City Invitational

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Stevenson women's swimming team traveled to the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center for the Diamond City Invitational. The Mustangs competed in session one at 10 a.m. and session two at 5 p.m. Melanie Milam took home two bronze medals in the 200 and 400-yard individual medleys. At the end of day one, the Mustang women sit at 11th place with 152 points.

Opening the invitational was 200-yard freestyle relay squad of Emily Wolff, Emily Mata, Zoe Pflieger, and Milam swam to 11th place with a finals time of 1:55.47, earning Stevenson 32 points. 

Milam opened individually for the Mustangs earning bronze in the 200-yard individual medley swimming a 2:19.47, giving Stevenson 27 points.

Wolff, Pflieger, and Mata each swam in the 50-yard freestyle placing 30th, 46th, and 47th with times of 28.09, 30.38, and 30.80.

Finishing for the first session was the 400-yard medley relay team of Bailey Hurt, Milam, Wolff, and Pflieger scoring another 32 points for stevenson finishing in 11th place with a time of 4:39.64.

Opening the second session was the 200-yard medley relay squad of Milam, Mata, Wolff, and Pflieger finishing in 2:17.78 to take 11th place. 

Milam took her second bronze of the day in the 400-yard individual medley, getting her hand on the wall at 4:57.63.

Pflieger swam a 1:19.93 in the 100-yard butterfly, while Wolff takes 27th in the 200-yard freestyle 2:15.99.

Mata swam in the 100-yard breaststroke swimming to a 1:45.26 while Hurt swam in the 100-yard backstroke finishing in 1:10.65

Session two begins Sunday, November 24 at 10 a.m. for the second and final day of the Diamond City Invitational.
