Women's Swimming Falls to Widener in Season Opener

CHESTER, Pa. - The Stevenson women's swimming team fell in its season opener to host Widener by a score of 202-52. Senior Colby Stein picked up the lone victory for the Mustangs, winning the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:02.02, which qualified her for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships in the event. Stein would also take third in the 100 Freestyle with a 58.69 (MAC Qualifier). 

Senior Julianna Burnett took second overall in the 100 Breastroke with a 1:12.73, which was just .62 seconds behind first-place Sammy Grogan of Widener. Burnett also touched the wall second in the 200 Breastroke with a 2:47.92. Both of Burnett's times were good enough to qualify her for the MAC Championships. 

Junior Melanie Milam placed third in both the 200 Backstroke and 200 Invidual Medley with times of 2:29.84 and 2:31.51. Milam earned a spot in the conference championship for each event. 

Freshman Emily Wolff made her collegiate debut in the 50 Freestyle with a 28.04, giving her third-place overall. 

In the 200 Medley Relay, Stein, Burnett, Milam and senior Isabelle Ramsland took second overall with a 1:56.85.  In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Burnett, Ramsland, Stein and Wasicko placed second with a 1:48.62. 

The Mustangs compete next in a dual meet at Hood on Saturday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m.
