Milam Sets Two School Records on Opening Day of Diamond City Invitational

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Sophomore Melanie Milam broke two school records as the Stevenson women's swimming team competed on day one of the two-day Diamond City Invitational, held at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center.

Milam took sixth out of 32 swimmers in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a school-record time of 2:03.44. In the 500 Free, Milam set a new school mark with a time of 5:36.60.

Junior Isabelle Ramsland clocked a season-best time of 1:02.68 in the 100 Yard Butterfly, taking sixth overall. Junior Julianna Burnett touched the wall in a season-best time of 1:04.03 to take eighth. 

Burnett would also finish eighth in the 50 Free with a 26.07. 

Junior Colby Stein took third overall in the 100 Back with a time of 1:01.33, while also taking 10th in the 50 Free with a season-best time of 26.09.

In the 400 Medley Relay, Stein, Ramsland, Milam and Burnett clocked a season-best time of 4:16.04, giving them fifth overall. In the 200 Yard Medley, the same group put together a combined time of 1:55.11 to take fourth overall. 

The second and final day of the event kicks off on Sunday, November 19 at 10:00 am.
