CHESTER, PA. - The Stevenson women's swim team fell in its season-opener to host Widener by a score of 170-85. Junior Colby Stein highlighted the day for the Mustangs with two individual victories.
Stein took first in the 100-Yard Backstroke by almost three seconds with a time of 1:01.29. In the 200 Backstroke, Stein touched the wall just .37 seconds sooner than Lauren Griffith of Widener to take the event. Stein also picked up a third place finish with a time of 26.78 in the 50 Freestyle.
Junior Julianna Burnett earned a victory in the 100 Yard Breastroke after touching the wall in 1:11.94. The other win for the Mustangs came from sophomore Melanie Milam, who took the 200 IM by just .08 seconds with a time of 2:22.92.
Burnett picked up a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 Free and 200 Breast with times of 25.38 and 2:40.14. Milam took third in both the 100 and 200 Back with times of 1:04.39 and 2:20.47, respectively.
In the 200 Freestyle relay, Burnett, Milam, Stein and junior Isabelle Ramsland combined to take second in the event with a 1:44.38.
Individually, Ramsland took second in the 100 and 200 Butterfly events with times of 1:03.60 and 2:26.49.
Sophomore Julia Charen finished second in the 200 Free with a 2:12.26. Charen also finished third in the 100 Free with a 1:00.34.
The Mustangs compete next when they host a quad meet against Hood, Frostburg State and Goucher on Saturday, October 21 at 2:00 pm.
