Bowes Nets Seven, Railey Picks Up 200th Career Victory

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Stevenson women's lacrosse junior Carly Bowes scored a career-high seven goals while head coach Kathy Railey picked up her 200th career win as the Mustangs downed Geneseo, 15-12, in a non-conference contest Sunday morning at Ann Denver Park.

  • The Knights (3-1) won the opening draw control and scored just one minute into the contest on the first shot of the game.
  • After Geneseo won the ensuining draw control, sophomore Lindsay Seipp forced a turnover before Bowes knotted the game at 1-1 on a free-position shot just 49 seconds later.
  • The teams traded the next four goals, with Bowes giving the Mustangs (3-2) the lead twice before Geneseo took a 4-3 lead midway through the half on a free-position goal.
  • With 4:54 remaining, Bowes scored her fourth goal of the game to tie the game at 4-4 before Jacqui Thorsen score a pair of goals 26 seconds apart to reclaim the Knights lead.
  • Freshman Caroline Murphy scored unassisted with 2:13 left in the half while classmate Kaitlyn Kozlowski netted a free-position goal with 34 seconds remaining to get within one at the break.

  • Thorsen scored the opening goal of the second half to give Geneseo a two-goal lead before Murphy and Kozlowski scored back-to-back to tie the game at 8-8.
  • Hanna Marafioti netted a pair of goals in a minute span to put the Knights up, 10-8, but the Mustangs answered with six straight.
  • Bowes scored three goals during the run while senior Dana Stevens had a goal and an assist.
  • Freshman Maddie Zeller netted her first career goal on a free-position shot while classmate Tea Ferrara also found the back on a free-position attempt.
  • The Knights scored back-to-back to get back within two goals with 2:24 remaining but senior Gabby DiGello forced a turnover after Geneseo won the ensuing draw control.
  • Ferrara scored an unassisted goal to push Stevenson's lead to three with 1:45 left to play.

  • It is the third consecutive win for the Mustangs, who also recorded the 200th victory in program history.
  • Geneseo outshot Stevenson, 30-25, including 17-12 in the second half.
  • The Mustangs finished 7-for-8 on free-position attempts while the Knights were 4-for-7.
  • The Knights won 20 of the 27 draw controls with Kozlowski winning five of the team's seven.
