Barcless Nets Games Lone Goal in 1-0 Victory at Lebanon Valley

HERSHEY, Pa. - Stevenson women's ice hockey sophomore Trinity Barcless netted the game's lone goal while freshman Ana Holzbach recorded her first career victory as the Mustangs posted a 1-0 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) victory over Lebanon Valley Friday evening at Hersheypark Arena.

  • The Mustangs (7-12-1, 4-8-1 UCHC) fired five shots early but three were blocked by the Lebanon Valley defense while Jill Moffat made a pair of saves.
  • Stevenson earned the game's first power play at the 4:45 mark and fired three shots on net before a second Dutchmen penalty.
  • The hosts had a five-on-three for 39 seconds and recorded three shots on net but all three were saved by Moffat.
  • At the midway point of the period, freshman Nikki Kendrick fired a shot on net with the rebound bouncing to the opposite side but senior Kellen Wittman sent the rebound attempt wide.
  • Just past the midway mark of the period, junior Jordan Pirrello fired a shot that hit the pipe.
  • With a 1:16 remaining in the period, the Mustangs returned to the power play but put just one shot on net before intermission.

  • Stevenson fired three shots to open the second period while still on the power play but Moffat once again saved all three.
  • The Mustangs took the first eight shots of the game before the Dutchmen (4-15-0, 1-15-0 UCHC) recorded their first past the five-minute mark.
  • A fourth Lebanon Valley penalty put the visitors back on the power play with 7:19 remaining and put three shots on net.
  • The Dutchmen earned their first power play of the game with 4:00 remaining but freshman Breanna Crosson came up with a pair of blocked shots.

  • Barcless gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead just 2:41 into the period after carrying the puck through the neutral zone and scoring to the top right corner after Moffat committed to the left. The defensive pair of senior Allie Sabatini and sophomore Casey Storck picked up the assists.
  • At the 7:04 mark, Lebanon Valley went on the power play for the second time but the only shot was blocked by Storck.
  • With 8:11 in the period, Stevenson returned to the power play but Moffat made a glove save on a shot from Kendrick before stopping a shot from the point by Storck.
  • On a delayed penalty call, the Mustangs got six skaters out on the ice and Kendrick nearly scored on a rebound off a shot from Crosson from the point.
  • With 1:47 remaining in regulation, Stevenson went on the power play but just seven seconds later the Mustangs were whistled for a penalty to produce four-on-four action for the final 1:40.

  • Stevenson outshot Lebanon Valley, 55-8, holding the Dutchmen to just two shots over the final two periods of play.
  • The Dutchmen won 34 of the 63 face-offs. Senior Cierra Siemasko won a team-high 11 face-offs.
  • Holzbach finished with eight saves to earn a shutout in her second career start.
  • The Mustangs improve to 4-0 all-time versus Lebanon Valley, posting their third shutout.
  • Stevenson finished 0-for-5 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
