OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's ice hockey senior Caitie Darosa recorded her 1,000th career save but the Mustangs dropped an United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest versus Nazareth, 4-1, Friday afternoon at Reisterstown Sportsplex.
- The Golden Flyers (7-0-0, 3-0-0 UCHC) held possession of the puck in their offensive end for the early going of the game, taking 12 of the first 13 shots.
- Stevenson had its first power play opportunity of the game at the 9:20 mark but shots by juniors Jordan Pirrello and Allyson Barlow were stopped by Adrianna Brehm.
- The Mustangs (1-5-1, 0-4-1 UCHC) went back to the power play with 20 seconds remaining in the period.
- With the power play carrying over into the second period, the hosts did not record a shot in the two-minute player advantage.
- After the Mustangs failed to convert on their third power play attempt, the two teams played four-on-four for six seconds before Nazareth went on its first power play.
- The Golden Flyers scored just 13 seconds into the start of their power play as Kyla Thompson netted her first of two goals in the game.
- Both teams killed off a penalty before Nazareth added a second goal with 17.1 seconds left before intermission as Emily Kromer netted her first of the game.
- Just 3:18 into the period, the Golden Flyers made it 3-0 as Kromer netted a power play goal.
- At the 9:06 mark, senior Kellen Wittman got the Mustangs back within two with a power play goal after burying a rebound off a shot from freshman Nikki Kendrick. Pirrello was credited with the secondary assist.
- With 4:13 remaining in regulation, Nazareth converted on a third power play of the game as Thompson collected her third point.
- Nazareth outshot Stevenson, 44-23, marking the seventh straight time the Mustangs have been outshot this season.
- The Golden Flyers also won 33 of the 57 face-offs. Senior Cierra Siemasko won a team-high 11 face-offs.
- Darosa finished with a season-high 40 saves.
- Wittman has recorded a point in six of seven games this season while Kendrick is on a five-game point streak.
- Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, November 17 when the Mustangs host Nazareth in UCHC play beginning at 3:00 p.m.
