Shorts, Taylor Named to Academic All-MAC Team

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Stevenson men's volleyball senior Landon Shorts and graduate student Christian Taylor were named to the Academic All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Team announced by the league on Wednesday. The duo were two of 12 individuals named to the team.

The Spring Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes both in the classroom and on the field during the 2019 spring semester. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote on the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success.

The most decoarted player in program history, Shorts was recently named the Division III National Outside Attacker of the Year. Shorts, who became the first-ever Mustang to be named an AVCA First Team All-American, finished the season leading the Mustangs in kills (352), kills per set (3.06), digs (228), and aces (80).  Shorts ranked fourth nationally in aces per set with 0.696 and broke the NCAA All-Division service ace record on March 1, 2019, against Widener University when he posted ace number 256.

A one-year member of the Mustangs, Taylor recorded 944 assists, averaging 9.1 per set, while adding 117 digs, 63 total blocks, and 22 kills. He became just the sixth player in Division III to record 4,000 assists in a career.
