ANNVILLE, Pa. - Sophomore Dereck Davis and junior Patrick Watson of the Stevenson men's indoor track and field team were each named to the 11-member Middle Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team Tuesday. Stevenson was one of three schools with multiple selections to the team.
The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a spring semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.
Davis, a Psychology major, was named the MAC Co-Track Athlete of the Year at the conference meet this winter after winning gold in the 60-meter dash and finishing second in the 200-meter dash. He was a USTFCCCA All-Region selection in the 60 and qualified for NCAA nationals, finishing 11th overall.
Watson, a Criminal Justice major, finished second in the 5K and fourth in the 3K at the MAC indoor championship. He also won the 5K at the AARTFC indoor championship, running the eighth-fastest time in the Mideast Region in 2019, 14:50.03.
