Mustangs Win Fourth Straight, Sweep Immaculata, 9-0

FINKSBURG, Md. - In its first match since returning from spring break, the Stevenson men's tennis picked up its fourth-straight victory in a 9-0 rout over visiting Immaculata. The match which was moved indoors due to inclement weather, was played at the Carroll Tennis Center.

The Mustangs started off the day by dominating in the doubles matches, taking all three by an 8-0 score. Senior Wornden Ly and sophomore Ray McDermott improved their spring record in No. 1 doubles to 4-2, while junior Andrew Ryan and Andre Sturniolo picked up their third-straight win in No. 2. Freshman Richie Abruscato and junior Peter Appiah Jr. picked up their second-straight win in No. 3.

Stevenson's success carried over into the singles portion of the day, where the Mustangs took all six matches in straight sets. 

McDermott won his second-straight match in No. 1 doubles, sweeping his opponent by a 6-0, 6-0 score. Sturniolo improved his No. 2 singles record to 5-1 after taking down his opponent, 6-0, 6-1.

Ryan won his fifth-straight match in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0, while Ly cruised in his No. 3 match by a 6-0, 6-1 margin. 

Junior Douglas Vaughan shutout his opponent in No. 5 singles by a 6-0, 6-0 score, while Appiah won in No. 6, 6-1, 6-0.

The Mustangs (5-4) open up MAC Commonwealth play at Alvernia on Wednesday, April 4 at 3:30 pm.
