Mustang Men Fall to Hood in Season Opener, Kratzer Wins 100 Butterfly

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson men's swimming team opened it's season against Hood College Sunday at the Henry A. Rosenberg Aquatic Center, Stephen Kratzer finished to two-first place finishes for the Mustangs. The Mustang men fell to the Blazers 146-34.

Junior Brian Brown started the meet off for the men in the 1000-yard freestyle, capping a second place by narrowly out-touching his opponent with a time of 12:15.44 while Brooks Anderson finished in 12:15.62. Brown took another second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle swimming to a 58.50,  while placing third in the 500-yard freestyle at a mark of 5:57.07.

Junior Kratzer held off Hood opponent Cody Jacobson in the 200-yard freestyle marking the fastest time of 1:58.83. Later in the meet, Kratzer picked up a third-place finish in the 200-yard Individual Medley swimming to a 2:20.77 finish. Rounding out his indivual events for the day, Kratzer picked up his second win of the day in the 100-yard butterfly, edging out Hood with a time of 57.82. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Kratzer finishes the day with a third-place finish in 1:13.58.

Junior Matt Miloszar swam his way to fourth place finish in 29.21, while he took third in the 100-yard backstroke finishing in 1:15.73.

In exhibition, relay squad of Kratzer, Brown, and Miloszar finished in 1:44.60.

The Mustangs compete next in a dual meet against Lycoming College on Saturday November, 2 at 1 pm.
