Justin Burnette Honored by MAC Commonwealth


ANNVILLE, Pa. – Stevenson University men's lacrosse sophomore Justin Burnette was named MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon after his efforts at the faceoff X in wins league wins over Lebanon Valley and Arcadia.

In Wednesday afternoon's 9-7 win at Lebanon Valley, Burnette won all 19 of the game's faceoffs and picked up 16 ground balls while also scoring a goal in the first quarter to give the Mustangs an early 2-1 lead.  In Saturday's triumph, Burnette claimed 24-of-29 draws and picked up 17 ground balls.  For the week, Burnette won 43-of-48 faceoffs for an 89.6% faceoff win percentage.

On the season, Burnette has won 71.7% of faceoffs (228-318), which ranks among the national leaders.  He has picked up 122 ground balls and also has three goals and an assist on the season.

8-6 overall and winners of eight of its last nine games, Stevenson returns to action Tuesday when it travels to Hood for a 3:30 MAC Commonwealth contest.
