OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's ice hockey sophomores Xavier Abdella, Justin Stelzer and Evan Williams were named as 2017-18 American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Krampade AHCA All-American Scholars announced on Thursday. A total of 1,310 student-athletes recognized across both genders in Division's I, II and III.
To be recognized as a Krampade AHCA All-American Scholar, an ice hockey student-athlete must have obtained at least a 3.6 grade-point average (GPA) each semester and participated in 40-percent of their school's games in 2017-18.
"We are extremely proud of this group of student-athletes who have competed at the highest levels of the game on the ice and matched that performance in the classroom," said AHCA executive director Joe Bertagna. "The sport demands a great deal from these athletes so it is a great statement they make, individually and collectively, with their ability to attain this level of academic achievement."
Abdella appeared in 14 games on defense, recording four points on one goal and three assists while Stelzer played in 11 games at forward and totaled three points on one goal and two assists. Williams made 22 appearances on defense and finished with three assists.
