Mustangs Fall at Virginia Wesleyan in Lid-Lifter

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Stevenson University field hockey team dropped its season opener to Virginia Wesleyan by a 4-1 count Friday afternoon.

Junior Anna Bauer scored the Mustangs' (0-1) lone goal late in the second quarter to cut the Marlins' (1-0) lead to 2-1, but Virginia Wesleyan pulled away with a pair of second half scores.

Kelsey Eure had five saves as the Marlins outshot Stevenson 11-5.

Stevenson returns to action Sunday in its home opener, hosting Notre Dame (Md.) at 11 am at Mustang Stadium.
