ANNVILLE, Pa. – Stevenson field hockey juniors Ashley Meyer, Sara McVey, and Marissa Hoffman were named to the All-MAC Commonwealth Second Team while freshman Noel Martin was selected as honorable mention as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Since joining the Middle Athletic Conference in 2012, the Mustangs (7-9, 3-4 MAC Commonwealth) have placed 22 players on all-conference teams. For Meyer and McVey it was their second straight season named to the second team, while Hoffman earned her first second-team honors after being named to the honorable mention group in 2016. With Martin earning honorable mention honors she became the first freshman to make an all-conference team since Ariella Hopp in 2011.
Meyer appeared and started in 15 games on the season. She recorded three defensive saves and two shots.
McVey started in all 16 games on the season. She led the team in shots recording 57 with 34 on goal. Finished second on the team in points with 13 and goals five. Scored the game-winning goal in the season finale at Hood (10/26).
Hoffman started in all 16 games on the season. Totaled eight points on the year as a defender scoring two goals and dished out a team-high four assists. Led the Mustangs in defensive saves with seven. Also, netted the game-winner in overtime on Homecoming against Alvernia (10/21).
Martin appeared in all 16 games and made 13 starts. Finished tied with teammate Tanner Ridgely in points with 18 and goals eight (including three game-winners). Recorded a season-high four points versus St. Mary's (Md.) scoring twice and taking eight shots. Totaled 54 shots on the year which was good for second on the team.
Stevenson finished the season on a two-game winning streak, including a shutout in the season finale at Hood.
