Field Hockey Picked to Finish Fifth in MAC Commonwealth Preseason Poll

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Two years after advancing to the program's first ever conference championship game, the Stevenson field hockey team was picked to finish fifth in the 2017 MAC Commonwealth Preseason Poll as voted by the league's coaches.

The Mustangs have made the conference postseason in three of their five seasons in the league including reaching the title game in 2015. The team also appeared in the tournament in 2012 and 2013.

Reigning National Champion Messiah was the unanimous pick to win its fourth consecutive conference title and 13th since 2002 after receiving all seven first place votes. The Falcons received 49 points overall, which is 10 ahead of second place Lebanon Valley.

Alvernia received 37 points, just two behind the Dutchmen. Albright and Stevenson rounded out the top-five, with 28 and 25 points, respectively.

Stevenson opens the 2017 season on Friday, September 1 when the Mustangs host McDaniel at Mustang Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs open conference play on Saturday, September 23 on the road at Albright.
