MIAMI – The Stevenson University women's beach volleyball team picked up three wins to open its Florida trip Sunday, defeating St. Thomas (Fla.), Palm Beach Atlantic and Palm Beach State College all by 5-0 scores.
Against St. Thomas, Trang Christensen and Katie Leftridge posted a 21-11, 21-8 win at No. 1, while Darian Hileman and Piper Connors prevailed 21-8, 21-16 at No. 2. Caroline Dangel and Emily Castro were pushed for a 25-23 win in the first set at No. 3 before taking the second set 21-13.
Against Palm Beach Atlantic, Castro and Dangel were forced to a third set, dropping the first set 21-23 before winning the next two 21-14, 15-9. All the other matches were decided in two sets.
All five wins against Palm Beach State were 2-0 finals, with Leftridge and Christensen pulling out the closest match at No. 1 by scores of 23-21, 21-10.
Stevenson returns to action Tuesday, traveling to Webber International to take on Webber and Warner in a tri-match beginning at 11 am.
