Mustangs Sweep Warner, Webber International

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Stevenson University women's beach volleyball team swept Warner and Webber International on Thursday.  The Mustang (6-4) downed Warner 5-0 then took a 3-2 decision from Webber International.

In the win over the Royals, all five flights went to a third set.  At No. 1, senior Annika Schwartz and sophomore Trang Christensen rallied to win 20-22, 21-17,15-13.  Senior Lauren Weaver and sophomore Katie Leftridge recorded a 21-19, 20-22, 15-8 win at No. 2, while sophomore Darian Hileman and freshman Jessi Freeman were 21-14, 14-21, 15-8 winners at No. 3.

Sophomores Julie Nightwine and Victoria Prokic rallied for a 13-21, 21-16, 15-10 win at No. 4, and senior Katie McGuire and freshman Sarah Riggin prevailed 21-9, 17-21, 15-13 at No. 5.  

The Mustangs triumphed in the third through fifth flights to defeat Webber International.  Hileman and Freeman moved to 6-0 on the Florida trip with a 21-15, 15-21, 15-12 victory at No. 3, with Prokic and Nightwine rallying for a 19-21, 21-18, 15-10 win.  McGuire and Riggin won 21-18, 23-21 at No. 5.

Weaver and Leftridge fell in three sets 21-17, 10-21, 8-15, while at No. 1 Schwartz and Christensen dropped a pair of close sets by scores of 21-18, 22-20.

Stevenson closes out its Spring Break trip Saturday when it faces Florida Southern and Saint Leo at Florida Southern beginning at 11:00 am.
