Women's Beach Volleyball Splits on Day One

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University women's beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on day one of the Stevenson Invitational.  The Mustangs swept Principia 5-0, then fell 3-2 to Towson University.

In the opener against Principia, Stevenson (12-10) won all five matches in two sets.  The closest match of the morning came at No. 5, where junior Megan Hren and freshman Victoria Prokic won 21-15, 21-16.

In the nightcap against the Tigers, a club program, junior Lauren Weaver and freshman Katie Leftridge pulled out a 21-14, 19-21, 15-11 win at No. 2.  Sophomore Grace Coleman and freshman Trang Christensen were 21-14, 21-13 winners at No. 3.  At No. 4, senior Sara Bollinger and freshman Darian Hileman fell in three sets 21-16, 18-21, 18-16.

Stevenson closes out its season Sunday, hosting Morgan State at 10:30 am and Principia at 3:00 pm.
