Owings Mills, Md. (November 11) – The Stevenson men's basketball team remains unbeaten after a commanding 72–54 victory over Lebanon Valley on Tuesday night at Owings Mills Gymnasium. Behind a balanced offensive effort and a strong defensive showing, the Mustangs improved to 2–0 on the season.
Lebanon Valley jumped out to an early 9–2 lead before Stevenson began to settle in.
Myles Jackson sparked the Mustangs' offense with a pair of free throws and a driving layup to cut into the deficit. A few possessions later,
Noah Ihezue connected on a jumper from the lane, then drained a three-pointer to give Stevenson its first lead at 17–15 midway through the half.
The Flying Dutchmen hung tight, but a 10–3 Stevenson run capped by a three from
David Pridgen put the Mustangs ahead 24–22.
Christian Jackson added a pair of free throws and later found
Kyle Luddy inside for a layup to extend the lead. As time wound down in the half, Ihezue buried a three from the right wing to send Stevenson into the break with a 37–33 advantage.
The Mustangs came out firing in the second half. Jackson opened with a strong take to the rim, and Luddy followed with a put-back off his own miss. Moments later, Brooks hit from deep to push the lead to double digits at 48–37. Stevenson's defense took over from there, forcing turnovers and limiting Lebanon Valley to just nine field goals..
Kendall Seguignol controlled the paint on both ends, pulling down seven rebounds, while Luddy and
Christian Jackson added key second-chance points as the Mustangs extended their advantage to 20 with just under six minutes remaining. A fast-break layup from Jackson sealed the win, igniting the Owings Mills crowd.
Jackson led all scorers with 18 points and six rebounds. Ihezue added 13 points and two steals, while Luddy contributed nine points and eight boards. Stevenson out-rebounded the Flying Dutchmen 45–28 and held them to 38% shooting overall.
Stevenson is set to host the two-day Mustang Classic on Friday, November 14 and Saturday November 15. Hartwick and St. Joseph's - Long Island will compete in the first game at 6:00 p.m., with the Mustangs hosting Penn State - Brandywine at 8:00 p.m..
