ANNVILLE, Pa. – Junior Kelly Winklbauer of the Stevenson University women's cross country team was named the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Winklbauer captured first place for the Mustangs at the Shannon Henretty Invitational hosted by Stevenson on the Greenspring Campus on Friday. She finished the six-kilometer course in a time of 23:37.97, finishing nearly 19 seconds ahead of her closest competitor. She traversed the course nearly two minutes faster than her winning time in 2016 and led Stevenson to a second-place team finish.
On the season, Winklbauer has competed in two events. She placed seventh overall at the season-opening Mustang Stampede, finishing behind six runners from nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins.
Stevenson returns to action on Friday at the John Paddy Doyle Meet of Champions at famed Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on Friday.
