ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Stevenson University women's volleyball team split a pair of five-set matches in a tri-match Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs fell to York (Pa.) 3-2, then downed the host Seahawks by an identical score.
- Set scores were 25-14, 19-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-9
- Stevenson (11-8) led 23-18 in the fourth set before a 4-1 run by the Spartans (10-5) pulled them within two, 24-22. A kill by Moriah Savage forced the fifth set.
- In the fifth, the Mustangs trailed by one, 10-9, when York rattled off five straight points en route to the win.
- York hit .209 as a team, including .500 in the deciding set, while the Mustangs hit .165 for the match.
- Katie Leftridge led the Mustangs with 15 kills, while Savage hit .308 and added 12 kills. Savage also had four blocks.
- Junior Emily Castro handed out 23 assists and also had seven digs and six service aces.
- Sarah Riggin and Darian Hileman posted 21 and 20 digs, respectively.
- Chelsea Ireland recorded five blocks.
- Set scores were 20-25, 25-23, 25-27, 25-16, 15-11.
- The Seahawks (11-8) led 24-22 in the fourth set before back-to-back attack errors by St. Mary's tied things at 24.
- An Ireland kill tied the set 25-25 before the hosts had back-to-back kills to take a 2-1 lead.
