OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University women's volleyball team opens its 2018 schedule with four games at the Captains Classic hosted by Christopher Newport on August 31-September 1 to open up a 30-match slate.
The Mustangs will open with Keystone and Mary Washington on the Captains Classic opening day, followed by facing Muhlenberg and the tourney hosts on Saturday. CNU was ranked No. 24 in last season's final AVCA Division III poll. After opening its home and MAC Commonwealth schedule Wednesday, September 5 against Albright, Stevenson travels to Muhlenberg's Buttermaker Tournament September 7-8.
The Mustangs are home four more times in September, hosting Eastern September 15, Lycoming and Washington (Md.) College in a September 22 tri-match and Arcadia in a MAC Commonwealth final rematch on September 25. Stevenson also travels to Johns Hopkins September 27. The Blue Jays were No. 17 in last season's final poll.
Stevenson has eight more home matches in October, beginning with an October 3 contest against Marymount (Va.). The Mustangs host in-state foe Frostburg State on October 10 and close out the regular season with a tri-match against Stevens and Union (N.Y.) on Saturday, October 27.
The five-team MAC Commonwealth Championship features opening round play on October 29, the semifinals on October 31 and the championship match on November 3. The Mustangs enter 2018 having won six straight MAC Commonwealth titles.
Stevenson finished 33-2 overall and made the program's seventh straight NCAA appearance, hosting an NCAA regional round for the first time. The Mustangs finished No. 23 in the final AVCA Division III poll.
