OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University women's volleyball team opens its 2017 season on Friday, September 1, when it plays the first two of four matches at the Salisbury Sea Gull Classic. The Mustangs are set to play a 32-match schedule.
The Mustangs open against Medaille at 6:00 pm at the Sea Gull Classic on September 1, followed by an 8:00 match against Geneva. The following day, Stevenson faves Swarthmore at 11:00 am and the host Sea Gulls at 1:00 pm.
Stevenson opens its home and MAC Commonwealth schedule on Wednesday, September 6 as Messiah visits Owings Mills Gymnasium. The Mustangs and Falcons have met in the last five MAC Commonwealth title games, with Stevenson emerging victorious each time, including last season's five-set thriller.
After playing in tournament at Muhlenberg and Susquehanna, the Mustangs return home on Saturday, September 23 with a tri-match with Catholic and St. Mary's (Md.). Stevenson rounds out September with four road games, including MAC Commonwealth matches at Arcadia and Hood, as well as a neutral match against Lycoming at Hood.
The first four matches of October are at home, beginning with Elizabethtown on October 3. The following night, Widener visits Owings Mills Gymnasium, while the second home tri-match of the season takes place Saturday, October 7 with Washington and Lee and Juniata.
Four more home matches and five road tilts make up the remainder of the schedule, as Lebanon Valley, Johns Hopkins, Alvernia and Franklin & Marshall all visit Owings Mills.
The five-team MAC Commonwealth Championship begins with a first round game on Monday, October 30. The semifinals are slated for Wednesday, November 2, with the final set for Saturday, November 4.
Stevenson is coming off its fifth straight MAC Commonwealth title and sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016.
