Mustangs' Alex Mercer Named to All-CAC Second Team

YORK, Pa. - Stevenson women's volleyball junior Alex Mercer (Eldersburg/Liberty) was named to the All-CAC Second Team on Tuesday, becoming the second player to receive the honor in the last two seasons after the Mustangs joined the conference in 2007.
A year ago, Stevenson's Brittany Umetin also earned All-CAC Second Team honors after totaling 1,032 assists, 330 digs and 78 kills as the team's primary setter.
Mary Washington swept the individual honors as senior Anne Lutkenhaus was named CAC Player of the Year, freshman Laura Gomez was named CAC Rookie of the Year and head coach Dee Conway was named CAC Coach of the Year.
Mercer finished second on the team with 293 kills while leading the team with a .317 hitting percentage and 84 total blocks. She averaged 3.09 kills per set and had 10 or more kills in 13 games this season, including a season-high 19 in the team's 3-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite in the season finale.
In three seasons with the Mustangs, Mercer has totaled 814 kills and a .276 hitting percentage along with 263 total blocks, leading the team each season.
The Mustangs finished the season with 13 wins, giving them 45 over the last two, the highest two-year total in school history after the team won a school record 32 a year ago.
