Ani, Bishop Finish Third and Fourth in Hammer on First Day of MAC Championships

CHESTER, Pa. - Junior Danika Ani and senior Allison Bishop finished third and fourth overall in the hammer throw with personal-best tosses of 47.07 and 45.79 meters on day one of the MAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by Widener. Ani and Bishop's throws are currently ranked fourth and fifth in the Mideast region. Senior Lauren Dioses, who currently has the third-best throw in the region (48.19m), placed seventh in the event with a distance of 44.26m. Senior Jess Rega missed out on the podium by just .05 meters with a throw of 42.34. 

In the 4x800m relay, senior Kayla Bias, junior CJ Morris, senior Mary Sam and freshman Mikhayla Sabo finished with a combined time of 10:16.78, giving them sixth place in the event. 

Sophomore Emily Gates picked up a seventh-place finish in the 10,000m run with a solid time of 40:19.31.

The Mustangs are currently tied for second overall with 18 points after one day of competition. 

The second day of the meet takes place on Friday, May 3.
