CHESTER, Pa. - After four of seven events, freshman Rachel Panek leads the field in the heptathlon with 2635 points at the Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Widener. Panek took first place in three of the four events, while setting school records in two of them. Panek placed first in the 100m hurdles with a school record time of 15.64 seconds, while placing second in high jump with a school mark of 1.54m. Panek also took first in the shot put (9.42m) and 200m dash (26.92).
Junior Lauren Dioses earned Third Team All-MAC in honors in the hammer throw after placing third overall with a toss of 42.62m. Junior Jess Rega set a new personal best with a throw of 40.52, which gave her fifth place. Sophomore Kiarra Nowell's personal-best toss of 39.26m gave her eighth overall.
In the 4x800m relay, freshmen Emily Gates, Allison Krahe, and juniors Mary Sam and Kelly Winklbauer combined to set a new school record with a time of 9:43.49, giving them fourth overall in the event.
After one of three days, Stevenson sits at second overall in the team standings with 16 points. Misericordia leads with 40.
The second day of competition takes place on Saturday, May 4.
