Ani Shatters School Record in Shot Put at Towson Invitational

TOWSON, Md. - Stevenson women's track and field freshman Danika Ani shattered her previous school record in the shot put with a toss of 14.10m at the Towson University Invitational. Ani, who placed third overall, currently has the top throw in all of Division III.

Sophomore Jess Rega placed ninth in the event with a throw of 12.90 meters. 

The Mustang 4x400 relay team of freshmen Jaleah Sydnor, Cierra Roberts, Dyonne Hicks and Kimberly Hammond also set a school record with a combined time of 4:04.59. The group, who placed sixth, missed qualifying for ECAC's by just .59 seconds. 

In the 400m hurdles, Hicks set a new school record with a time of 1:05.23 seconds. Hicks, who placed seventh overall, also earned a spot into ECAC's with her time. 

Roberts broke her own school mark in the long jump with a leap of 5.45 meters, which gave her sixth overall.

In the discus throw, freshman Kiarra Nowell and sophomore Lauren Dioses placed ninth and 10th overall with throws of 35.13 and 34.16m.

Dioses tossed a 38.45 in the hammer, while Ani threw a 37.72.

The Mustangs compete next at the Morgan State Legacy Meet starting on Friday, April 21 through Saturday, April 22.
