Ani Takes First in Shot Put at Messiah Invitational, Sets New Outdoor Record

GRANTHAM, Pa. - Stevenson women's track and field freshman Danika Ani took first overall and set a new outdoor school record in the shot put at the Messiah Invitational. Ani's winning toss of 13.69 meters is currently fifth best in Division III. 

Sophomore Jess Rega finished third overall in the event with a throw of 12.32 meters. 

In the discus, sophomore Lauren Dioses had a personal-best distance of 35.88 meters, which gave her fifth-place overall. Ani took seventh in the event with a toss of 34.77.

The Mustangs, who competed in just the throwing events, finished 13th in the team standings with 22 points. Host Messiah took the team title with 138.5 points. 

Stevenson competes next in the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Friday, April 14.
