Mustangs Fall to Edgewood (Wisc.) in Spring Break Opener

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Stevenson women's tennis team dropped its spring break opener, held at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center, to Edgewood (Wisc.) by a score of 7-2. The loss drops the Mustangs' record to 2-2 on the season. 

Juniors Jenna Skove and Kelsi Mentzer opened up the match with an 8-6 win in No. 1 doubles, improving the duos' record to 3-4 on the year. 

In No. 2 doubles, senior Kirstyn Davidson and Megan Waskiewicz fell by an 8-2 score, while senior Christina Endy and junior Nina Bretz fell 8-1 in No. 3. 

Skove improved her singles record to 4-3 after defeating her No. 1 opponent in a thrilling three-set tiebreak, 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7). 

Davidson fell in her No. 2 match by a 6-2, 6-4 score, dropping her record to 4-5 on the season. 

Mentzer's singles record dropped to 4-4 after a 6-4, 6-1 setback in No. 4. 

The Mustangs will be back in action on Tuesday, March 19 at 8:30 p.m. when they take on the St. Louis College of Pharmacy at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center.
