STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson women's tennis team opened up its spring season with an impressive 9-0 victory over visiting Lancaster Bible at the Greenspring Courts.
Juniors Jenna Skove and Kelsi Mentzer opened up their spring campaign with an 8-1 win in No. 1 doubles. Senior Kirstyn Davidson and sophomore Megan Waskiewicz improved their season record to 3-0 with an 8-2 win in No. 2. Junior Nina Bretz and sophomore Taelor Brown won their No. 3 match by an 8-5 score.
Skove won her second singles victory on the year in straight sets, which included a thrilling second-set tiebreaker (6-4, 7-6 (10-6)). Davidson cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 in No. 2, while Waskiewicz took down her No. 3 opponent, 6-0, 6-4.
Mentzer won her second match of the season in a 6-0, 6-2 victory in No. 4. Bretz took her No. 5 match by a 6-0, 6-3 margin.
Sophomore Esha Kashmiri won her first match on the season, taking down her No. 6 opponent by a 6-1, 6-3 score.
With their match against Notre Dame (Md.) that was supposed to take place on Sunday, March 10 being postponed, the Mustangs (2-1) will not compete next until Monday, March 18 at 8:15 a.m. when they compete in their first spring break match against Edgewood (Wisconsin) in Hilton Head, S.C.
