Mustangs Back in Win Column With Conference Win at Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Stevenson women's soccer sophomore Allison Arters netted her first goal of the season and third of her career as the Mustangs picked up their first win in MAC Commonwealth action with a 1-0 victory versus Lycoming Saturday afternoon at Shangraw Complex.

  • The Warriors (1-12, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) had the early offense, recording the first shot of the game and back-to-back corner kicks in the opening five minutes.
  • In the ninth minute, junior Alayna Roesener sent a pass to Arters beat a defender in the box and beat goalkeeper Helen Ross to the right post.
  • A few minutes later, Arters was looking for her second goal of the game on a free kick but it was saved by Ross.
  • Sophomore Keegan Caffrey came up with three consecutive saves, including back-to-back saves in the 28th minute.

  • Lycoming once again had the first shot of the half, but the Mustangs (2-7-2, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) had the next five, including three on goal.
  • Late in the game, junior Alyssa Rasmussen had a shot of an Arter's corner kick that went on goal but Ross was there for the save.
  • In the final seconds of the contest, junior Marissa Inglisa, who is back after a five-game absence, recorded her team-high sixth shot of the day but it was blocked.

  • Stevenson outshot Lycoming, 15-12, including 8-4 in the second half while also holding a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Caffrey finished with eight saves and has 38 over her last four games. She also posted her second shutout of the season.
  • The Mustangs goal snapped a 230:29 scoreless streak.
  • Stevenson posted its sixth straight victory over the Warriors, and have outscored Lycoming 28-2 in six all-time meetings.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, October 10 when the Mustangs host a MAC Commonwealth contest versus Hood beginning at 7:00 p.m.
